Ella’s First Trip to Australia

Adrian, Ella and I just got back from a 3 week holiday in Australia, introducing Ella to family and friends. We arrived on a Friday morning and have Mum’s retirement party that afternoon. Needless to say, Ella’s sleeping patterns were a bit out of whack, but it only took a couple of days to settle into her usual routine of sleeping from 8pm to about 7ish.

The first weekend was spent with family in Brisbane and on the Monday my family (Mum, Dad, Katharine, Steve, Eenie, Adrian and Ella) had professional photos taken at a studio in Wynnum. We all wore pastel coloured tops with jeans and the photos turned out really well. On that Friday the 3 of us, with Mum and Dad, woke up early for our flight to Canberra. From there we drove the 4.5hrs (stopping for lunch) to Leeton, where Ella met her Great Grandmother Nanna Andy (short for Anderson), or as the other children call her, Nandy. We stayed with Aunty Maria and Uncle Dennis and had a lovely few days, before heading home on Monday.

Then on the Friday of that week the 3 of us flew up to Townville to see Adrian’s family. We stayed with his younger sister Lisa, husband Danny and 8 week old daughter Madison (Maddie) but spent the day on Saturday at his older sister, Kerry’s place, with her partner Callum and 2 kids Shayleigh and Lochlan. It was really nice to have all the grandkids together and to have some photos with Ella and Maddie. Kerry even bought them matching tops to set the scene. We flew back on the Sunday night and Adrian’s Mum came back with us and stayed at Mum and Dad’s for the week so she could spend some more time with us and Ella.

We enjoyed spending time with Fran and Sarina (our beautiful Goddaughter who is growing up all too quickly) and showing Ella off to anyone that would let us – we took her up to Mum’s work and to Katharine’s (a couple of times). I even took her into Moreton Bay College to meet all my old teachers/colleagues from when I was at school and then on my internship. One of the times we took Ella up to Katharine’s work, Katharine took great delight in weighing her. She is a healthy 6.57kg, which is about 14 pounds 7 ounces, so is maintaining her line just below the 50th percentile.

There were lots of other places we went and people we saw, but too many to name without the risk of leaving someone out. It was really nice to see all the family and we are so proud of how Ella handled all the people and travelling – with that tough nature of hers, she really is an Aussie 🙂
