The only thing to note this week other than more visitors and the Baptism (which will get its own post) is that the Health Visitor came on Thursday. In England the midwife does a home visit on days 3, 5 and 10 and then passes the care over to the health visitor. They come to check the health of mother and child, as well as provide support and advice in general. The purpose of Thursday’s visit was to give me some more information (as if we didn’t have enough already), give us Ella’s red book (which contains her medical details until she’s 25), weigh her and check her hearing. On Thursday she weighed spot on 4kg or 8 pounds 13 ounces – she was 3.5kg or 7 pounds 11 ounces when she was born, so is doing very well. The hearing test also showed no problems, so Ella was given a clean bill of health. The health visitor was very impressed with how alert Ella is already and also thought it was amusing how noisy she is when she feeds – so much for being discreet! Good thing we love her to bits anyway 🙂
This site is a record of our adventures starting a family. Each time we hit another milestone, or do something exciting, we will post it on our site for you all to see. Feel free to reply to our posts, leave comments etc. We can’t wait to experience the world of parenthood and this will be our way of including our family and friends in this special journey.
