Epcot

Today was a much better day ๐Ÿ™‚  I slept in for a bit after Adrian headed off to the conference, and then had Raisin Bran (kinda like Sultana Bran, but with heaps more sugar, yuk) for breakfast.  I discovered the little shop here sells mini cereals and milk.  Anyway then I got ready and headed off to Epcot, which is absolutely massive!  I went on some rides, explored the World Showcase, went on some more rides, and then came home.  The World Showcase features 11 different countries set up around a huge lake, each with dining options, shows, shops etc – they try to make it feel like you are in their country.  The countries include Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada.

The rides at Epcot are more like shows than rides – I'll put the description given on the guide map so you have a bit of an idea what they were like.  These are the ones I went on:

  • Spaceship Earth – come explore the story of communication and be transported to the future reaches of the solar system in a Time Machine vehicle.
  • Ellen's Energy Adventure – ride with Ellen DeGeneres as she goes back to the dinosaur era.
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends – board a 'clamobile' and join your undersea pals on a quest to find Nemo!
  • Living with the Land – boat voyage through amazing greenhouses and a fish farm

There were a couple of other rides, but they seemed a bit full-on for me, especially since I'd just had lunch when I found them – not a good idea ๐Ÿ˜›  I also came across a trio of men playing drums on a set of 'garbage cans' (have to get down with the lingo).  They were really good, and got the audience having a lot of fun.

I have to say the people here are mostly really nice and helpful.  The thing that Adrian and I have noticed is that Americans seem to be really nice, or totally rude – no in between.  Parents are either patient and smiling, or constantly yelling – no in between.  And their kids are either really cute or total brats – again, no in between!

Oh well I have a few hours to kill now before heading off for dinner, so might send a few emails.

Love to all xoxo
